Will Manganese Ore Prices Get Boost from Rising Costs amid Weaker Yuan

Industry News 11:58:29AM Aug 19, 2015 Source:SMM

SHANGHAI, Aug. 19 (SMM) – Manganese ore traders at Chinese ports are mulling over price hike as recent depreciation of yuan has added to their import costs, SMM learned.

Eramet Comilog, CML and UMK, China’s major suppliers, kept offers unchanged for Chinese buyers in September compared with August, traders at ports said. Only BHP cut offers of Australian ore (granule, Mn 49%, Fe<5%) by USD 0.1/mtu. Flat offers by overseas suppliers will offer cost support.

However, with signs of turnaround in SiMn alloy market, especially in south China, it might be difficult for traders to raise manganese ore offers for the immediate term.
