SHFE Nickel Posts a Rise of 0.65% (Aug. 17, 2015)

Last Friday evening, Positions of SHFE 1601 nickel exceed SHFE 1509 nickel.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 17 (SMM) – Last Friday evening, Positions of SHFE 1601 nickel exceed SHFE 1509 nickel, but trading volumes of the former were still above the latter. Therefore, SHFE 1509 shifted to the most active contract again. SHFE 1509 nickel started with a positive gap at RMB 81,950/mt and then soared to RMB 82,430/mt before finishing at RMB 82,050/mt.

SHFE 1601 nickel touched a high of RMB 83,200/mt and a low of RMB 82,560/mt, to close at RMB 82,840/mt.

On Monday, SHFE 1509 nickel opened higher at RMB 82,050/mt and dived to RMB 81,530/mt, to end at RMB 82,100/mt, up 0.65%. Positions of SHFE 1509 nickel continue to shift to SHFE 1601 nickel. Trading volumes dropped 67,148 to 196,000 lots and positions also decreased 7,132 to 105,000.

SHFE 1601 nickel dipped to RMB 82,230/mt after starting Monday trading session at RMB 82,800/mt. The contract finally finished at RMB 82,880/mt. Trading volumes declined 3,488 to 132,000 lots while positions rose 2,054 to 127,000.
