Main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange plummets to 1162 points

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for ships carrying dry bulk commodities plummeted to below 1200 points on Tuesday lead by weak capesize and handysize rates.

LONDON (Scrap Register): The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for ships carrying dry bulk commodities plummeted to below 1200 points on Tuesday lead by weak capesize and handysize rates.

The overall index, which factors in average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk transport vessels, down by another 35 points to 1162 points on Tuesday.

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange is the rate which tracks for ships carrying dry bulk commodities.
