NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States Mint gold and silver coin sales were strong last month, pointed out Mitsubishi.
Combined sales of American Eagle and Buffalo coin sales were 202,000 ounces, up from 35,500 the same month a year ago and also up from 97,000 in June.
"Physical demand continues to cushion prices. The U.S. Mint reported a more than fourfold surge in gold Eagle bullion coin sales in July on an annualized basis,” Mitsubishi added.a
Meanwhile, American Eagle silver coin sales soared last week as the 2015 mintage went on sale again after a three-week hiatus when the Mint previously sold out, said Mitsubishi.
July sales were a little more than 5.5 million ounces. This was a six-month high, Mitsubishi points out.
