SHANGHAI, Jul. 31 (SMM) – Silicon market is expected to stage smaller declines in August, Shanghai Metals Market foresees.
“Any downward room for silicon price will be small in August, and the market will likely stabilize in late month,” SMM’s silicon analyst says, citing low interest in sales and production at current price as the main reason.
Most domestic silicon producers makes no profits at current price, and some producers facing high power costs are now running in the red, making them unwilling to reduce price further, according to SMM survey.
Moreover, export market in late August is expected to recover slightly as the holiday season overseas is coming to an end, SMM adds.
