LONDON (Scrap Register): The Southern European hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices edged up by €1 per ton week-on-week to €372 per ton ex-works in the week ended July 10, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.
In Southern Europe, selling prices remained largely in the €370-375 a ton range amid slower market activity.
According to TSI, North European steel producers continued to book orders for September delivery, but at a slightly lower price level than a week ago.
The price range for concluded HR coil deals has widened since and while some transactions were still done near the €400 a ton mark, the lower end of the range slipped to below €380 a ton.
Material from some Eastern European mills was heard offered around €385 a ton delivered.
