MAIREC, a German precious metals recycling company will open a new facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

HARTSVILLE (Scrap Monster): MAIREC, a German precious metals recycling company will open a new facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The German firm plans to invest around $4.6 million to establish the said facility. The new facility is expected to create nearly 35 jobs in the region over the next five years.

According to press release issued by the South Carolina Department of Commerce, MAIREC will lease 51,000 square feet building at 230 Old Converse Road in Spartanburg. The new upstate facility will recycle wide variety of items including catalytic converters, circuit boards, industrial catalysts, and incinerator residues.

MAIREC stated that the SC facility will be the company’s first overseas operation. Further, it added that the facility will help the company to serve the huge customer base in North American region. It termed setting up of the facility as a major milestone for the company. Gov. Nikki Haley and Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt welcomed the company to the South Carolina community. They termed the project as a big win for the recycling industry.

The facility is expected to become fully operational by September 2015.

The core expertise of MAIREC lies in the correct separation, concentration, homogenization and sampling of different materials containing precious metals.
