[Steel Output] World crude steel production dips further in June, H1 output down 2%

BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): According to the most recent statistics published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by 65 member countries was 135.594 million tonnes (Mt) in June this year, down 2.4% upon comparison with production of 138.940 Mt during same month the previous year.

The total crude steel production by EU-28 countries during June this year was 14.631 Million tonnes (Mt), slightly up by 1.7% than the June 2014 production of 14.386 Mt. Other European countries produced 3.048 Million tonnes of crude steel, down 2.2% when compared to 3.117 Million tonnes production achieved during June 2014. The CIS countries’ crude steel production dropped significantly by 10.7% from 9.275 Mt to 8.280 Mt. The total crude steel production by North America declined sharply by 6.4% from 10.058 Mt in June 2014 to 9.411 Mt in June this year.

The total crude steel production by South American region during June this year increased marginally by 0.8% to 3.657 Mt. African countries produced 1.080 Million tonnes of crude steel, 17.7% down when compared to 1.312 Million tonnes production achieved during June 2014. The total crude steel production by the Middle East countries during June this year was 2.463 Million tonnes(Mt), higher by 5.3% when compared with the June 2014 output of 2.339 Mt. The Asian countries’ crude steel production dropped by 1.9% from 94.369 Mt to 92.541 Mt. The total crude steel production by Oceania region increased sharply by 6.1% from 0.455 Mt in June 2014 to 0.483 Mt in June this year.
