ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import average prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) continued to plummet by $21 a ton week-on-week to $225 a ton in the week ended July 17, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.
According to TSI, the daily benchmark index for deep-sea Turkish imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 fell $12 a ton from last Friday to end the week at $227 a ton CFR Iskenderun port.
The market finally came back to life the week, with numerous cargoes booked out of North America and Russia - one large US supplier was particularly active in the market - at aggressively lower prices late last Friday.
For the first part of the week HMS #1&2 80:20 trades were typically completed in the range of $220-225 a ton.
Further transactions later in the week were at $227 a ton and above, although some of these cargoes carried a premium for prompt delivery.
