SHANGHAI, Jul. 20 (SMM) – Rumors are flying around that China Power Investment Corporation will slash aluminum output by 620,000 tonnes at its three smelters by the end of July. Will aluminum prices rise should such rumors turn out to be true?
These cuts, even if do occur, are insufficient to lift aluminum prices, given rapid expansions of low-cost capacity and slackening demand, SMM’s aluminum research team said.
