Researchers from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) have received the 2026 ASM International Henry Marion Howe Medal for pioneering research on ultrasonic processing during aluminum solidification. Using in-situ synchrotron X-ray analysis, the study revealed how ultrasound refines the microstructure of Al-Si-Mg alloys, providing new insights to support advanced aluminum manufacturing and greater use of recycled aluminum in automotive applications.

The Federation of All India Aluminum Utensils Manufacturers (FAIAUM) and the Cable and Conductor Manufacturers Association of India (CACMAI) have urged the government to reduce the effective 8.25% import duty on primary aluminum. The industry said high tariffs have significantly increased raw material costs, squeezed downstream manufacturers' margins and weakened the competitiveness of MSMEs producing aluminum value-added products.

Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden) has signed a strategic agreement with Canadian engineering firm Hatch to support the delivery of its future mining and metals projects. Hatch will provide engineering and project execution services, building on more than 30 years of cooperation in Maaden's aluminium and alumina operations. The partnership will also focus on developing local technical capabilities and workforce skills in Saudi Arabia.
