TORONTO (Scrap Monster):  Canada Fibers Ltd has announced formation of an affiliate named Urban Resource Group Inc. to focus on generating quality products from solid waste. The newly formed group will focus on creation of highly sustainable products from municipal solid waste stream.

Urban Resource Group has entered into strategic partnerships in an attempt to boost its customer base, by offering innovative product portfolio and superior customer service. The group has already decided to purchase the shares of Ecowood Ltd and All Waste Removal Inc. These acquisitions are expected to complete by this month end. In addition, the company has already completed acquisition of the assets of a wooden pellet manufacturing company. The tie-ups are expected to create additional value for discarded products.

“Creation of Urban Resource Group represents another bold ste for Canada Fibers,” noted CEO Joe Miranda.  “Our expanding group is increasingly positioned to provide complete and creative solutions for its customers,” added Mr. Miranda. The pioneering recycling initiatives by the company will focus on conservation of natural resources and energy and minimize greenhouse gas emissions.

Canada Fibers Ltd. was incorporated in 1990 and has grown to become one of the largest independently operated material recycling companies in Canada. Privately held, with headquarters in Toronto, it owns/operates seven operational facilities and has capacity to segregate and market any waste or recyclable material to the worldwide market. The company processes wide range of recyclable materials including paper fibres, plastics and metals and mixed dry waste.
