Many secondary lead smelters halted production again recently, SMM learnt.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 30 (SMM) – Many secondary lead smelters halted production again recently, SMM learnt.

Secondary lead quoted 11,700 yuan per tonne June 30 in Anhui while smelting cost reached as high as 11,700-11,800 yuan per tonne, leaving no profits for smelters. Though smelters could gain from by-products, the profits were light.

Smelters in many regions were closed due to environmental protection crackdowns.
