Demand from downstream lead-acid battery makers remains weak for primary lead currently, Shanghai Metals Market learns.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 29 (SMM) – Demand from downstream lead-acid battery makers remains weak for primary lead currently, Shanghai Metals Market learns.

Those producers only purchase on need or even stop buying primary lead.

Some makers cut production in this off-season for battery sectors and are left to sit on excess finished and semi-finished inventories. Also, tightness in liquidity by the end of this month and middle 2015 curbs their buying interest. Those combined factors depress downstream need for lead.
