SPOKANE (Scrap Monster): The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) has released the 2014 Annual Statistical Report (ASR). The ASR released on June 26th shows that the US steel output, shipments and imports increased significantly during 2014 when compared with the previous year.
The total and finished steel imports by the country rose to near-record levels in 2014. The steel shipments by the country were up almost 3% from the previous year to 98 million net tons during the year. The raw steel production by the country totaled 97 million net tons, nearly 1% higher in comparison with 2013. According to the report, steel demand witnessed significant rise in demand from construction and automotive sectors.
