BERLIN (Scrap Monster): As per the latest statistics provided by the German Steel Recycling Federation (BDSV), the country’s scrap prices dropped during the initial twenty-day period in June this year. During this period, the prices declined marginally by nearly €0.44 per ton.

The prices of old scrap decreased by €1 per ton to touch €204 per ton.

Shredded scrap prices went lower by €1 per ton to reach €231 per ton during this period.

On the other hand, prices of new arisings reached €221 per ton, rising €3 per ton from the previous month.

The demand for scrap remained weak from the country’s domestic construction sector during the month of June so far. The weakening demand scenario may result in further decline in scrap prices in the upcoming months, trade participants noted.

The German scrap prices had increased marginally during May this year. The prices of old scrap, shredded scrap and new arisings were €205 per ton, €232 per ton and €218 per ton during April ’15.
