US Steel shipments decline 2.5% m/m in Apr: AISI

US steel mills have shipped 7,087,864 net tons of steel in April, declined 2.5% from the export of 7,270,793 net tons a month earlier.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): US steel mills have shipped 7,087,864 net tons of steel in April, declined 2.5% from the export of 7,270,793 net tons a month earlier and down 13.9% from the 8,235,096 net tons shipped in April 2014, according to latest data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

Steel exports in the first five months of the year totalled 29,046,995 net tons, declined 9.5% from the shipments of 32,086,347 net tons in the corresponding period last year.

A comparison of April shipments to the previous month of March shows the following changes: cold rolled sheets, down 2%, hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, down 2% and cold rolled, down 7%.
