Utilization rate at major 120 Chinese silicon metal producers is not expected to rise significantly in June, Shanghai Metals Market foresees.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 11 (SMM) – Utilization rate at major 120 Chinese silicon metal producers is not expected to rise significantly in June, Shanghai Metals Market foresees.

Sluggish price is a major reason behind their low production interest, SMM silicon group says.

In May, the average operating rate at those surveyed producers grew to 34.93%, up 0.88 percentage point month-on-month, SMM survey finds.

Production in major producing regions, including Sichuan, Yunnan and Fujian, however, fell in May, according to SMM survey, due to high power costs and soft demand.
