WASHINGTON (Scrap Register): US raw steel production rose by 1.3% from the previous week to 1,722,000 net tons in the week ending June 6, 2015 with a capability utilization rate of 72.8%, according to latest report from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
Raw steel production was stood at 1,700,000 net tons in the week ending May 30 while the capability utilization was 71.9%.
The current week production represents a 8.8% decrease from the same period in the previous year. Production was 1,889,000 net tons in the week ending June 6, 2014 while the capability utilization then was 78.5%.
Adjusted year-to-date production through June 6, 2015 was 38,364,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 72.3%. That is down 7.3% from the 41,394,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 77.3.
