LONDON (Scrap Register): Northern Europe hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices advanced by €3 a ton week-on-week to €395 per ton during last week, as per the latest figures released by The Steel Index.

In the North European market HRC transactions were recorded in a wide range, but the majority of deals were concluded between €390-395 a ton (ex-mill).

However, activity in the Italian spot market slowed towards the end of the week with many market participants attending an industry exhibition in Milan.

HR coil prices in Southern Europe stabilised between €380-390 a ton (ex-mill) and some market players commented that they were not expecting any significant changes in the near-term.

Import prices were said to be close to €360-365 a ton (CFR Italy), with the majority of material coming from China, CIS and Iran.
