SAN DIEGO (Scrap Monster): Kyocera Communications Inc. has been named as the “2015 Recycler of the Year” by the San Diego Environmental Services Department (ESD). This is the eighth time Kyocera has been named Recycler of the Year. The company has also been awarded the “Manufacturer’s Responsibility Award” by the Industrial Environmental Association (IEA). According to Kyocera, the awards are in recognition of their dedicated environmental and recycling programs.

Eric Anderson, Senior Vice President and General Manager of global sales and marketing at Kyocera Communications expressed happiness on being selected for the prestigious awards. He reminded that Kyocera is the most awarded company by San Diego environmental authorities. “It is a great honor to be continually recognized by the City of San Diego and other organizations for our leadership and ongoing dedication to environmental initiatives,” said Eric Anderson. He further stated that the company will continue its efforts of social responsibility and serve as a model for other San Diego companies.

Recently, the company had launched a nationwide cell phone recycling program in partnership with SecondWave Recycling. The recycling initiative is aimed to reduce the environmental impacts caused by improper disposal of ell-phones. At the same time, it also raises funds for ‘Cell Phones for Soldiers’- a non-profit organization that helps veterans and on-duty personnel to get connected to their families.

Kyocera Corporation, the parent and global headquarters of the Kyocera Group, was founded in 1959 as a producer of fine ceramics. By combining these engineered materials with metals and integrating them with other technologies, Kyocera has become a leading supplier of solar power generating systems, mobile phones, printers, copiers, electronic components, semiconductor packages, cutting tools and industrial ceramics.
