(Kitco News) - Commodity analysts at Capital Economics note that precious metals were the best performing sector in commodities last month as strong silver prices boosted the entire complex.
They add that sentiment in silver improved dramatically last month with silver net longs increased by 138%, with gross short positions falling 64%. They also say there is strong demand for silver in Asia.
“China is the biggest consumer of silver for industrial applications. We anticipate an upturn in silver fabrication demand in the second half of this year, in line with our relatively positive outlook for the Chinese economy,” they say.
