Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import average prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) dropped by $3 a ton week-on-week to $286 a ton during last week, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.

ANKARA (Scrap Register): Turkish HMS 1/2 80:20 scrap import average prices (CFR Iskenderun Port, Turkey) dropped by $3 a ton week-on-week to $286 a ton during last week, as per the latest figures from the Steel Index.

According to TSI, Turkish participants reported that strong demand for scrap continued, but mills and suppliers were now at logger heads with regards to pricing, with recent currency movements forcing mills to try and reduce raw material costs.

Few deep-sea deals were concluded as mills looked to the domestic and short-sea scrap markets for material, whilst rumours persist of significant volumes of Chinese billet having been booked for June delivery.
