TAIPEI (Scrap Register): Prices for containerized Taiwanese imports of HMS # 1&2 80:20 advanced by $7 a ton $230 a ton CFR Taiwan port during last week, as per the latest figures from The Steel Index.

The rise can be attributed to price increases in the international scrap market, as opposed to any structural changes in demand in Taiwan.

The volume of sales at these higher prices, however, has been limited.

Taiwanese mills have been able to raise their long steel product selling prices, but the volumes sold have largely flattered to deceive.
