BERLIN (Scrap Monster): As per the latest statistics provided by the German Steel Recycling Federation (BDSV), the country’s scrap prices surged significantly during May this year. During the first 20 days of the month, the prices appreciated by nearly €1.48 per ton.

The prices of old scrap increased to touch €205 per ton.

Shredded scrap prices went higher to reach €232 per ton during this period.

The prices of new arisings reached €220 per ton, rising from the previous month.

The demand for scrap remained strong from the country’s domestic construction sector during the month of May so far. The firm domestic demand and continuing good export business contributed to the stability of scrap market in the country. The improved demand is likely to keep the scrap prices high in the coming months also.
