CANTERBURY (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World steel), the crude steel production by EU-28 countries were up marginally by 0.3% during the month of April year-on-year.
Germany recorded the highest output during the month of April. The country produced 3.642 Million tonnes during the month, which is lower by 1.9% when compared with the country’s output of 3.713 Million tonnes during April 2014. On a year-on-year basis, Hungary recorded the biggest jump in production. Hungarian crude steel output surged 68.7% over the previous year.
The lowest output was by Croatia. However, the total crude steel output by Croatia jumped higher by over 7% from 19,000 tonnes in April 2014 to 20,000 tonnes in April this year.
Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, the UK and other EU-28 region recorded increased year-on-year crude steel production. Czech Republic recorded the biggest decline in crude steel output in Apr ‘15, falling by 10.4% when compared with the previous year.
The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first four months in 2015 in comparison with those during same period in 2014.
