SHANGHAI, May 21 (SMM) – China’s Ministry of Industry & Information Technology (MIIT) cracked down on three cases of illegal rare earth smelting and sales in Jiangxi during its three-month nationwide campaign that started in October 2014, local media reported.
Ganzhou Tongcheng Rare Earth New Materials Co. engaged in rare earth smelting and separation under the name of scrap rare earth recycling. The company was subject to levy of 906,000 yuan in resource tax and fines of 200,000 yuan. Wuling New Metal Materials Co. was levied 4.5 million yuan of resource tax for illegal purchase of 1,534 tonnes of rare earth during July 2013-June 2014. Hukou Xinwen Trade Co. was imposed 9.91 million yuan of resource tax for illegal buying of 579 tonnes of rare earth during July 2013-June 2014.
