Main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange slumps to 620 points

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for ships carrying dry bulk commodities continued to slump on Tuesday due to a sharp decline in capesize, panamax and supramax rates.

LONDON (Scrap Register): The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for ships carrying dry bulk commodities continued to slump on Tuesday due to a sharp decline in capesize, panamax and supramax rates.

The overall index, which factors in average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk transport vessels, down by another 10 points to 620 points on Tuesday.

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange is the rate which tracks for ships carrying dry bulk commodities.
