OTTAWA (Scrap Monster): Niagara Falls police charged a man after he allegedly had been caught in the act of stealing scrap metal from a storage container Thursday morning outside of M&M Electric.

Robert A. Harris Jr., 43, of Tennessee Avenue, was charged with petit larceny and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Harris was stopped at 4 a.m. in the 5600 block of 56th Street next to a storage container and his vehicle’s trunk was filled with metal pieces that apparently came from the container. The value of the metal was approximately $300.

Police said the vehicle Harris was driving had been reported stolen in the City of Lockport. The vehicle was valued at $2,000.
