US Recyclers salute law enforcement partners during National Police Week

Recyclers around the United States are paying tribute to the men and women of law enforcement during National Police Week.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): Recyclers around the United States are paying tribute to the men and women of law enforcement during National Police Week.

Throughout the year, the more than 1,600 member companies of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) work closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement to prevent metals theft that poses a serious problem for many communicates.

ISRI and its members are vowing to strengthen its partnership with police and offer additional resources to help fight this crime.

“ISRI and its members are proud to work with and support all law enforcement it an effort to deter metals theft, and to help catch and prosecute criminals when crimes do occur,” said Brady Mills, director of law enforcement outreach for ISRI.

“Metals theft is a serious crime, which poses many dangers for responding officers, particularly at public utilities where it can expose live wires risking electrocution as well as explosions. We want every officer to return home safely to their families after each shift,” Mills added.
