US Raw Steel production declines 7.3% y/y to 1,707,000 net tons

United States domestic raw steel production declined by 7.3% year-on-year to 1,707,000 net tons in the week ended April 25, 2015.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production declined by 7.3% year-on-year to 1,707,000 net tons in the week ended April 25, 2015, while the capability utilization rate was 72.2 percent, as per the latest figures from the American Iron and Steel Institute.

According to AISI, production was 1,841,000 net tons in the week ended April 25, 2014 while the capability utilization then was 76.6 percent.

Production for the week ended April 25, 2015 is up 3.1 percent from the previous week ending April 18, 2015 when production was 1,655,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 70.0 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through April 25, 2015 was 28,128,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 72.4 percent. That is down 6.9 percent from the 30,224,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 77.0 percent.
