China Lead Product Imports Remain Low in March 2015

Customs reported that China imported 3 mt of refined lead in March, and total imports in the first three months were only 60 mt, due mainly to unfavorable SMM/LME lead price ratio.

SHANGHAI, Apr. 28 (SMM) – Customs reported that China imported 3 mt of refined lead in March, and total imports in the first three months were only 60 mt, due mainly to unfavorable SMM/LME lead price ratio.

Import numbers of lead alloy and lead plate were 855 mt and 3 mt, respectively, and those of other lead products were 11 mt.

China exported 5,613 mt of refined lead, 1,598 mt of lead plate, 69 mt of lead alloy and 90 mt of other lead products in March, with their combined volumes up 61.23% on the month to 7,370 mt. Exports of refined lead and lead plate claimed 98% of the total. 56% of refined lead from China was shipped to Vietnam. China’s net exports of lead products hit 6,498 mt in March, the highest since April 2013.
