SHANGHAI, Apr. 21 (SMM) – Utilization rate at major Chinese zinc oxide producers fell to 51% in March due to poor demand, Shanghai Metals Market survey shows.

The rate, down from 58% year-on-year, reflects production at 30 domestic zinc oxide producers in Jiangsu, Shandong, Hebei, Shanghai and Liaoning, with annual capacity totaling 422,000 tonnes.

SMM survey found only 10% of zinc oxide producers reported brisk orders, 20% saw orders largely unchanged, and the remaining 70% felt sales pressures.

Utilization rate at domestic major zinc oxide producers is expected to rise to 55% in April, SMM foresees.
