US Steel Scrap exports increase significantly by 16% y/y during January

United States steel scrap exports increased significantly 16% year-on-year to 1.04 million metric tons during January this year.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States steel scrap exports increased significantly 16% year-on-year to 1.04 million metric tons during January this year, as per the latest figures from US International Trade Commission (US ITC). However the January figure represent a decrease of 2% as compared to December.
 
According to the US ITC, the value of steel scrap exports during January, at $360.8 million, decreased month-on-month from $395.9 million in December 2014 and year-on-year from $380.9 million in January 2014.  
 
In January 2015, Turkey was the leading scrap export destination of the US, imported 334,142 mt of scrap. Taiwan received 172,289 mt of scrap from the US in the given month, followed by Korea with 121,653 mt of scrap. Meanwhile, China only received 35,491 mt of US scrap in January 2015.
