SHANGHAI, Apr. 17 (SMM) – MMG Limited revised its copper production goal this year by 2,000 tonnes to 168,000-183,000 tonnes, and left its zinc output plan unchanged at 440,000-510,000 tonnes, according to a recent company statement.
The increased forecast for copper output is based on bright performance from MMG’s Kinsevere mine which produced a record 20,042 tonnes of copper in the first quarter.
The company noted in the statement that its Century mine produced 7% less zinc in the first quarter compared with Q1 2014 as the ore grade declined. The mine will be closed in the third quarter this year.
Besides, 90% of infrastructure works at Las Bambas have been completed by the end of March, and the mine is planned to start producing copper concentrate in the first quarter next year.
