Spot copper was offered at premiums of RMB 70-120/mt to SHFE 1505 copper contract on Thursday.

SHANGHAI, Apr. 16 (SMM) – Spot copper was offered at premiums of RMB 70-120/mt to SHFE 1505 copper contract on Thursday. Prices are RMB 43,460-43,540/mt for standard-quality copper and RMB 43,480-43,580/mt for high-quality copper.

Cargo holders offered premiums of RMB 100-140/mt in the morning, but trades declined. Spot premiums then narrowed to RMB 70-120/mt. Some traders sourced goods after premiums for high quality copper neared RMB 100/mt. Supply of hydro-copper remained limited. Downstream buyers reverted to wait-and-see posture following Wednesday’s stockpiling.
