China Tin Group shut down its Ausmelt furnace in Laibin, Guangxi for unit maintenance, according to latest news from the company.

SHANGHAI, Apr. 16 (SMM) - China Tin Group shut down its Ausmelt furnace in Laibin, Guangxi for unit maintenance, according to latest news from the company.

The closure of the furnace, with annual capacity of 20,000 tonnes, is expected to last for one month, and will impact market supply.

Tumbled tin prices, having hitting the lowest level since 2010, have put great pressures on tin smelters, with some having halted or cut production.

The furnace was put into operation in March 2013.

Measured by refined tin output, China Tin Group rank 3rd in China and 7th in the world, and produced 12,000 tonnes of refined tin in 2014.
