SHANGHAI, Apr. 13 (SMM) – Copper concentrate imports to China’s port of Qinhuangdao surged in the first quarter this year to 100,800 tonnes, local media reported.
11 batches of copper concentrate, totaling 100,800 tonnes, were shipped to the port January-March this year, up nearly 10 fold from a year earlier. These shipments mainly came from Chile, Peru, and Australia.
According to the report, lower copper concentrate prices encouraged Chinese smelters to build raw material stocks. Meanwhile, climbing TCs for copper concentrate allowed smelters to earn more from employing imported copper concentrate, giving a rise to copper concentrate imports.
