Utilization rate at China’s silicon metal producers rose to 33.46% in March, Shanghai Metals Market survey shows.

SHAGNHAI, Apr. 3 (SMM) – Utilization rate at China’s silicon metal producers rose to 33.46% in March, Shanghai Metals Market survey shows.

The rise in rate, up 5.43 percentage points month-on-month and 2.44 percentage points year-on-year, was due mainly to production restarts at producers in Chongqing and Hunan after the Chinese New Year holiday in mid February.

Utilization rate at major domestic silicon metal producers is expected to improve to 35% in April, SMM foresees, as the arrival of high-water period in some producing regions will promote production enthusiasm to some extent.
