More secondary lead smelters in Shandong and Anhui closed last week due to a new round of environmental protection inspections.

SHANGHAI, Mar. 27 (SMM) – Many secondary lead smelters in China’s Shandong and Anhui closed last week due to a new round of environmental protection inspections.

Anhui Huaxin Group’s have shut down all secondary lead facilities and those unlicensed smelters in Anhui and neighboring areas were also forced into closures, SMM confirmed.

Sources from Huaxin Group told SMM that smelters generally halted a few production lines for environmental protection inspections in the past years. This year, however, most of them halted production with resumption nowhere in sight due to the stricter requirements.

In Shandong’s Linyi region – home to more than a hundred of secondary lead producers, only two or three producers were still in operations.
