Ore
China, Indonesia and Peru are world’s top 3 producers of tin ore, with combined output accounting for 77% of world’s total in 2013.
Refined Tin
China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Peru and Thailand are world’s major five producers of refined tin.
Demand
China, US, Japan and countries in western Europe are world’s major consumers of tin.
Downstream consumers: soldering, chemicals, tinplate, alloys, and float glass sectors.
Price factors: market fundamentals, import & export policy, and market speculation.
The import & export policy serves as an important factor on tin price. Indonesia is world’s biggest exporter of tin, so any change in its trade policy will greatly affect world’s tin market.
