BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): Arcelor Mittal continued to be the top steelmaker during the year 2014. The company’s steel output rose to 93.1 million metric tonnes, the highest level since 2008. The top rankings were little changed from 2013. ThyssenKrupp regained spot in top 20, displacing Russian Evraz. 50% of the companies in the list were Chinese. The combined steel output by the top 20 steelmakers totaled 633 million metric tonnes, representing 38% of the world steel output during the year.
The list of top 20 steelmakers is provided below. Please note that the output mentioned is in million metric tonnes. A reference to the positions held by these companies in 2013 is also included in the table.
