Spot Discounts in China Narrow to RMB 100-160/mt (Mar. 4, 2015)

Spot copper quoted at discounts of RMB 100-160/mt to SHFE 1503 copper contract in Shanghai Wednesday morning.

SHANGHAI, Mar. 4 (SMM) – Spot copper quoted at discounts of RMB 100-160/mt to SHFE 1503 copper contract in Shanghai Wednesday morning. Traded prices were RMB 42,420-42,550/mt for standard-quality copper and RMB 42,450-42,580/mt for high-quality copper.

Spot discounts narrowed after some speculators started sourcing goods in the market. Price gap between standard and high-quality copper also narrowed to RMB 30-50/mt. However, downstream buyers have yet to return to the market.
