US Raw Steel production drops 3% to 1,769,000 net tons

United States domestic raw steel production dropped by 3% year-on-year to 1,769,000 net tons in the week ended February 7 while the capability utilization rate was 74.8 percent.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production dropped by 3% year-on-year to 1,769,000 net tons in the week ended February 7 while the capability utilization rate was 74.8 percent, as per the latest figures from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

According to AISI, production was 1,824,000 net tons in the week ended February 7, 2014, while the capability utilization then was 75.8 percent.

Production for the week ended February 7, 2015 is down 0.7 percent from the previous week ended January 31, 2015 when production was 1,782,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 75.4 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through February 7, 2015 was 9,877,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 76.9 percent. That is down 0.3 percent from the 9,903,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 75.8 percent.
