Brazil's pig iron exports recovered during Dec '14

According to statistics provided by SECEX- Foreign Trade Secretariat, the pig iron exports by Brazil during the month of Dec ‘14 recovered from the previous month lows.

SAO PAULO (Scrap Monster): According to statistics provided by SECEX- Foreign Trade Secretariat, the pig iron exports by Brazil during the month of Dec ‘14 recovered from the previous month lows. The exports had plunged to six-month lows during November 2014.

Brazil’s pig iron exports totaled 371,000 during December ’14. The total exports surged higher by 172% from the previous month. The country’s pig iron exports had totaled 136,000 tons during the month of November last year. When compared with the exports during the same month a year before, the Dec ’14 pig iron exports were up nearly 18.3%.

The pig iron exports by the country during the whole year 2014 totaled 2.58 million tons. The exports fell by 3.84% during the year when matched with 2013.

The largest importer during the entire year 2014 was the US with 1.78 million tons. The second largest importer was the Netherlands. The imports by the Netherlands soared by 25.7% over the previous year to total 224,000 tons. In third place was Taiwan. However, the imports of Brazilian pig iron by Taiwan declined sharply by 33.4% over the year to 144,000 tons.
