US Crude Steel production rises to 88.3 million tons in 2014

United States crude steel production advanced by 1.7% year-on-year to 88.3 million tons during last year, as per the latest figures released by worldsteel.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States crude steel production advanced by 1.7% year-on-year to 88.3 million tons during last year, as per the latest figures released by worldsteel.

As per the industry body, crude steel production in North America was 121.2 Mt last year, an increase of 2.0% on 2013.

North America and Asia grew modestly last year compared to 2013, while in the C.I.S. and South America it decreased.

World crude steel production reached 1,662 Mt for the year 2014, up by 1.2% compared to 2013.

In 2014, the Middle East, the smallest region for crude steel production had the most robust growth.
