BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by North American countries edged higher by 2.2% during the month of Dec ‘14 year-on-year.
The total crude steel production by Canada during Dec ‘14 was 970,000 tonnes, higher than the 2013 production of 950,000 tonnes by 2.1%. The US produced 7.383 Million tonnes of crude steel, higher by 3.7% when compared to 7.120 Million tonnes production achieved during Dec 2013. The total crude steel production by Mexico declined by 2.7% from 1.542 Mt in Dec ‘13 to 1.500 Mt December last year.
The Cuban crude steel production increased marginally by 0.9% to 35,000 tonnes. The crude steel output by El Salvador was estimated at 12,000 tonnes in Dec ‘14, down by 4.3% when compared with 13,000 tonnes a year before. Guatemala produced 40,000 tonnes in Dec ‘14, down 1.8% from the same month a year ago. The crude steel output by Trinidad & Tobago plunged by 36.2% in Dec ‘14 to 37,000 tonnes from 57,000 tonnes during same month the previous year.
