SHANGHAI, Jan. 20 (SMM)Production at galvanizers in Foshan and Guangzhou, two regions in Guangdong Province, is now being affected by the ongoing safety inspections, Shanghai Metals Market survey shows.

The round of inspections, following one production accident in Foshan, is expected to continue into the Chinese New Year holiday in mid February.

The majority of affected producers in the two regions are small and medium-size galvanizers, according to SMM survey.

Producers, failing to meet safety standards, will be forced to suspend production, one local producer told SMM.

So far, zinc alloy producers in Dongguan have not been affected, so the impact on the entire zinc downstream processing sector will be small, SMM foresees.
