US Raw Steel production advances 4.1% y/y to 1,899,000 net tons

United States domestic raw steel production advanced by 4.1% year-on-year to 1,899,000 net tons in the week ended January 10 while the capability utilization rate was 79.0 percent.

NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production advanced by 4.1% year-on-year to 1,899,000 net tons in the week ended January 10 while the capability utilization rate was 79.0 percent, as per the latest figures released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

According to AISI, production for the week ending January 10, 2015 is up 2.3 percent from the previous week ending January 3, 2015 when production was 1,857,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 77.2 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through January 10, 2015 was 2,695,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 78.4 percent. That is up 3.4 percent from the 2,606,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 75.8 percent.
