India's Pig Iron exports declined marginally during Jan-Sep 2014

According to trade statistics, India’s pig iron exports during the first nine months of 2014 dropped marginally by 0.8% when compared with the corresponding period a year ago.

 MUMBAI (Scrap Monster): According to trade statistics, India’s pig iron exports during the first nine months of 2014 dropped marginally by 0.8% when compared with the corresponding period a year ago. The cumulative exports during the period totaled 696,000 tons.
 
During the nine-month period, South Korea was the top importer of pig iron from India. The South Korean imports totaled 278,000 tons during Jan-Sep ’14, accounting for nearly 40% of the total exports by India. The South Korean imports of Indian pig iron were 28.9% higher when matched with the previous year.
 
The second largest export destination of Indian pig iron was Thailand. The exports to Thailand totaled 256,000 tons, accounting for 37% of the total Indian exports. The Indian pig iron exports to Thailand surged by 155% year-on-year. In third place was Saudi Arabia with 54,000 tons, recording a rise of 12.2% over the previous year.
 
The country’s pig iron exports averaged at 78,000 tons during January to September last year. The pig iron exports by the country are estimated to reach 930,000 tons during the entire year 2014.
 
Meanwhile, the country’s total exports of pig iron during the month of September 2014 totaled 67,000 tons.
